Driving through Gilgandra we went looking for a fun, family activity and found Emu Logic.
Emu Logic is a working emu farm near the Warrumbungle National Park (north of Dubbo, between Gilgandra and Coonabarabran) that sells a wide variety of emu products and offers educational tours. We thought it was an amazing way to really kick off our travels, learning about, and getting up close to, Australia's largest native bird that is represented on our coat of arms.
The shop was filled with so many amazing products, and the tour provided such a unique experience. Chicks hatch from early July, so unfortunately our timing meant we didn't get to see newborns, but we loved interacting with the young ones and feeding the adult emus.
Penny (owner) had so much knowledge to share with us, but we were mostly impressed with how she handled our three young kids. With Mia & Savannah in carriers, and Keira a little stand-offish at first, Penny really took the time to ensure our girls were comfortable and that we received the full experience, which we really appreciated.
Check out their website for more details. Definitely a unique experience and must-do when you're passing through Torweenah, NSW.
